Golf for the blind

Golf for the blind is strictly governed by the rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf club, St Golf club. Andrews and the United States Golf Association. They issued a ” Modification of the rules of Golf for Golfers with Disabilities.” These rules allow the coach or assistant blind golfer to be near him on the line of impact without penalty. Each player has a sighted coach / assistant describing the position of the hole, helping with the selection of the club and ensuring that the head of the club is directly behind the ball. After all necessary directions blind golfer makes shot.

There are three categories of blind golfers depending on the degree of vision loss – B1, B2, B3.

Blind Golf is played all over the world. There are currently thirteen national associations organizing tournaments in their respective countries. In addition, the international Blind Golf Association sponsors open tournaments in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan and the United States.

Every two years, the international Blind Golf Association holds a World championship. The last one was held in Canada in August 2012.

Competitions can be held separately for each category of golfers or for all categories at once. The international Blind Golf Association has developed a Scheme that governs the work of all member associations and is used for international competitions.
